Day 11 - More Lucern

Today is a rainout. For the first time in two weeks the heat wave broke. Today is supposed to be in the mid 70's. Downside to that, a very strong storm is taking the place of the heat. Loud claps of thunder and constant flashes of lightning that sounded as if a train had crashed outside my window rang out all night. All these sounds in a room with triple glass windows. I couldn't image the hell had I had stayed in the other hotel with no AC, windows opened, humidity building. Nope, nope...

As a result all my lake and mountain activities are cancelled. I could use the day off to recoup from this whirlwind trip.

In the center, Lucerne, that's me!

Not sure I remember the last time I saw rain
The clouds did create some great picture taking of the flowers on the bridge.

This town doubles in size when the China tourists descend upon it at 9am.  I recognize the idea of tourism is fairly new to most Chinese but come on. They're rude. They blow their nose onto the sidewalk, cut in line, push you out of line. It's no wonder people who work here are excited when their buses roll up at 5pm to get them the heck out of their town.

It literally is impossible to go anywhere here without swarms of China tourists.

I'm glad to be leaving Luzern tomorrow. The town, while very pretty, was a mistake to home base from here. Shops/eating establishments don't open until 10am and close before 6pm. Food is way overpriced. This town is very much German. Odd observation - no French is spoken here nor French names of streets / places yet Bern (just an hour away) has no German spoken / written / places. There is absolutely nothing to do after the first day (thus more bridge pictures today). I should have stayed in Bern and done a day trip here. Lesson learned.

Tomorrow - on to Amsterdam before catching my ship.
